Leaving Alaska. We have one port day left. Tomorrow we’ll be in Victoria, British Columbia, then they kick us off the ship. Today we used the fitness center, played euchre and walked on deck. Because we will be in port until late tomorrow they did the final show tonight. The ship singers and band preformed and the captain made an appearance. The crew, butlers, waiters… paraded in so we could clap and show our appreciation. The staff has been very good, our room is always clean, with fresh towels and the fridge is replenished as we used the pop and beer.
My one thing I’d like added to the cruise experience is a place where I could get a candy bar or bag of chips. I don’t always want to sit down for a big ordeal meal. Tonight’s dinner took two hours. That’s just too long, especially since Andy and I were eating alone so we didn’t have a lot of stuff to talk about, we’d been talking all day.
Alaska has been spectacular and everyone we met onshore was wonderful - tour people to shop salespeople. We heard some fun stores and silly jokes from bus drivers including a wonderful legend about how there came to be theee types of bears, polar, brown and black.
We also learned a way of remembering the 5 types of salmon in Alaska. With your fingers…
Thumb, rhyme's with - CHUM
Index finger, for poking some one in the eye - SOCKEYE
Middle finger - KING
Ring finger, where you wear a ring - SILVER
Pinky finger - PINK
