As with any trip to Walmart, the trick is to not stay too long. Therefore, we were up and out before the store got busy with morning shoppers.
A short 8 minute drive from the store was a parking trail head for the K&P rail trail so we decided to get a morning ride in. An unknown rail trail is always a little risky, sometimes they travel through industrial landscapes that are not very scenic. We were pleasantly surprised with this section of the K & P trail. The hard packed grave was lined with Queen Ann’s lace and other wildflowers. We passed woods, wetlands and rolling farms. Added bonus, it was a gradual uphill on the way out so we got to go downhill on the ride back. We road 5 miles out then turned around. On the way back, Andy said, “Bunny” and quickly turned around. I thought, “bunny, so”. Turns out he said, “Money”. He found $5 on the ground by the trail. Lucky day 😊
We parked at the K&P Trail Sydenham Road Parking area and road north.
We walked around the cute downtown of Kingston which is situated at the eastern end of Lake Ontario and toured a Great Lakes Museum before hitting the road and heading east along the St Lawerence River.
The drive from Kingston to Quebec City isn’t necessary scenic, but we made good time arriving in Quebec City around 6:00. We’re parked for the night in a lot near the port and walking distance to the Old Town. We headed out to find dinner and explore. We’ve heard that Quebec has a very European feel, and that is definitely true. We found the famous old hotel, the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac and the historic wall. We finished the evening with fireworks that we could see from our camper home.
