Day 2 - Dublin

Our fight was delayed, but fortunately just 2 hours. After a restless night on the plane we arrived in Dublin ready to explore. We had both slept a little, Andy watched a plane movie and I watched Titanic on my phone. We took the Dublin Airport shuttle to downtown. It was a short walk to the Rui Plaza Hotel from the bus stop. Our room wasn't ready so we left our bags and went in search of lunch. We found a place serving roast beef and veggies, Andy's favorite on our trip to England, it wasn't so great, but filled us up. After lunch we checked into our room. The lobby of the hotel is very pretty, but the room needs a little refresh. It's clean and has everything we need.

We headed out to explore, walking up and down the fun streets of the Temple Bar area and toured Dublin Castle. We got in free to the Castle with the OPW Heritage Card https://heritageireland.ie/visit/places-to-visit/. Definitely worth it at 30€ each if you plan on visiting lots of historic sites. We used similar cards in Scotland, England Florence, Italy and have always been happy we had them.

At 4:30 we headed to the EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum for the Genealogy Consultation I had scheduled. It was wonderful. The genealogist was great and seemed truly excited when we discovered my grandmothers great grandfather and where he lived. We will be camping in the same town so she emailed us a map so we could drive by the old Robinson property. She also emailed us copies of wedding and birth records for the Robinson family tree. The consolation cost 65€ and was well worth it.

We walked over to Trinity college and St Patrick's Cathedral in the evening and had dinner at Badbobs Temple Bar. Much better than the lunch spot. The atmosphere was very "Irish Pub", probably because it is an Irish pub. The live music rounded out the evening.
